Technicians carefully connected the palm sheets with California bass roes in an orderly manner, and hung them in the water, allowing the 2 million roes introduced from Guangdong Province’s Foshan City to be hatched.
With the help of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of Hunan Province, the company settled in the village. After in-depth research and investigation, the village decided to develop sea bass aquaculture.
Several months of observation were conducted on the local micro-environment, climate, and water quality of Pushi Town to ensure high survival rate, fast growth, no disease, and good body shape of sea bass, achieving a win-win situation for both the village and the enterprise.
“The expected considerable returns cannot be achieved without the high-quality water, favorable natural environment, and relatively cheap rent of the fish farm in Luxi County. I am very optimistic about the future prospects of this investment,” said the company head.
These 2 million fish roes are the first phase of the company’s project. The survival rate of fish roes is about 90%, the survival rate of fish fry produced is about 80%, and the final output of fish is about 1.4 million.
According to the current market price, this batch of fish fry will generate a benefit of 1.6 million yuan, excluding basic costs of fish roes, feed, shipping, water and electricity, and labor. The profit margin is relatively considerable.
Shen Haiyang, first secretary of the village, said: “the introduction of new productivity industries is to revitalize the idle and abandoned factory buildings and sites in the village to promote employment and economic development. It also aims to make full use of the high-quality water resources of Luxi County, actively undertake the transfer of fish fry production industry in the Pearl River Delta region, build regional brands of Luxi County and even Xiangxi Prefecture, and finally form high-quality industries that can be promoted, providing strong momentum for comprehensively promoting the rural revitalization in Xiangxi.”
